An extract rich in polyphenols
Various preparations of olive leaf in liquid solution have been produced for integration into the diet. What needs to be taken into account when choosing the best one is the amount of substances in the solution.
Olive infusion has been shown to be among the richest in the primary substance, Oleuropein. In addition to Oleuropein (2656 mg/litre), the infusion also contains:
Elenolic acid 1393 mg/litre
Hydroxytyrosol 213 mg/litre
Tyrosol 174 mg/litre
Rutin 237 mg/litre
It has been scientifically proven in vitro that the combination of these elements produces the following effects:
- It has an antioxidant effect and counteracts free radicals.
- Helps with lipid and carbohydrate metabolism
- Helps physiologically control blood pressure.
- It has an energising effect, useful in the presence of fatigue and weakness.
- Has a vaso-protective action.
- Strengthens the immune system.
- Detoxifies the body.
It should be pointed out that no-one could eat olive leaves, so it is not possible to ensure the in vitro effect identified by the researchers through food.
This is where the concerns of some people arise, who have given negative testimonials, either because of the lack of immediate effects or because of scepticism about food supplements.
Nevertheless, the infusion is the only one certified by the Italian Ministry of Health for its properties, to be precise:
- it regulates lipid and carbohydrate metabolism
- contributes to normal blood circulation
- it helps regulate blood pressure
